PU-ERH TEA

This is a robust and full bodied tea which can only be made with a specific varietal of the broad-leaf tea tree and closely guarded fermentation process. The production of authentic Pu-erh is restricted to a small area of Southwestern Chins’s Yunnan province. Pu-erh has a very earthy smell and is an incredible smooth cup of tea with a deep burgundy infusion. It is one of the only teas that its value increases with the age of the tea. It was traditionally make into bricks (which are available in small cup size bundles called "Tuo Cha") and aged in caves.
This tea was used for currency in ancient times.

Ancient Maiden’s Pu-erh Organic fair traded $3.56 oz
This loose leaf Pu-erh is made with hand harvested tea leaves from the wild ancient tea trees of Yunnan’s Jingmai Mangjing high mountain tea villages. The local people of Jingmai Magjing climb their ancient tea trees to harvest the new groth leaves and buds.  Maiden tea refers to a special grade of Pu-erh that is harvested by the young ladies and was offered traditionally as a special portion of their dowery. It is one of the most prized grades of Pu-erh and rarely seen in the US. It is a well balanced, smooth  flavor that is rich and sweet in its finish. Origin: Yunnan China. rishi

OOLONG TEA

Oolong is a semi-fermented tea produced exclusively in a small area of Southeastern China and Taiwan.
It is considered between a black and a green because it has the nuances of both.
It is one of the few teas that does not go bitter.

Wuyi Oolong Organic $2.50 oz
This tea is from Wuyi Mountains in Fujian China which is the birth place of Oolong tea. This has a smooth and rich body that is devoid of astringency. Known as Wuyi Qi Lan or "Profound Orchid" , its flavor is quite unique with sweet notes. Origin: Fujian, China. rishi

Iron Goddess of Mercy ( medium roasted) $4.50 oz
There is wonderful folklore surrounding this tea. An emperor that believed he was cured from his death bed by this tea, believed  The leaves resembled iron and possessed the healing powers of the Goddess of Mercy (Guan Yin). This is one of the most treasured Oolong teas. Rishi’s Iron Goddess of Mercy has a light golden infusion with a smooth body and sweet finish. Its aroma is profoundly reminiscent of baked grain. Also known as " Bai Hao Oolong". Has notes of ripened fruit and honey with amber infusion. A very pleasant Oolong that goes with any meal. Origin: Taiwan. rishi

 
WHITE TEA

White tea is the least processed. It is picked and dried. White teas take their name from a rare tea bush varietal found only in China. Their tea leaves and big buds are covered with a silvery-white down which resembles the skin of a ripened peach.White teas are the most delicate of teas, never use boiling water
and steep for only 2 - 3 minutes.
There is little color and a very delicate aroma and flavor in your cup.

Snow buds (XUE YA) Organic $2.75 oz
A rare white tea that is hand harvested in very limited quantities on the high mountain peaks of northern Fujian, China.  A clear infusion offers a fresh green note with a complex savory flavor. It is surprisingly full flavored and smooth. Origin: Fujian, China. rishi

White Peony Organic $2.75 oz
White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) is a classic white tea. It has a unique herbaceous aroma similar to steamed bamboo and toasted nuts. Not that I know what steamed bamboo smells like!! But it has a mild flavor with a low astringency. Origin: Fujian China. rishi
